Identify User Groups and Edit Group Permissions

How to Grant & Modify Permissions on SFM

Finding a User Account's Assigned Permission Group

  1. Go to Administration > User Accounts to identify which group is the User account assigned to.

  2. When Users Form opens, select the user in the list and check their entry under the Group column. In the below example, we're selecting the user 'John Doe', whose assigned Group is 'ADMIN'.

Using this example, we know that we have to edit the assigned permissions for the Admin group.

Checking a Group's Assigned Permissions

  1. Next, go to Administration > Groups & Permissions.

  2. The Groups and Permissions window will open. In the Groups tab, look for your user's group. In our example, our user's group is 'Admin', so in the below you can see Admin selected.

  3. You can configure the group permissions from the two tabs following the Group tab. In the above example, these are the 'Permissions for Admin' and 'Permissions Available for Admin' tabs.
    1. Permissions for [Group Name]: shows which permissions are currently ACTIVE for the selected group.
    2. Permissions Available for [Group Name]: shows which permissions are currently NOT assigned to the selected group.

Assigning Permissions to a Group

Following on from step 3 in the section above:
  1. In the Groups and Permissions window, select the 'Permissions Available for [Group Name]' tab.
  2. Select the permission you want to assign.
  3. Click the colourful icon at the end of the left-hand toolbar, or press CTRL R on your keyboard, to assign the permission.

The permission will disappear from the 'Permissions Available for [Group Name]' tab list and will now show in the 'Permissions for [Group Name]' tab list instead.
