How to restrict access to companies within SFM?

Restricting Company Access in SFM

Controlling Company Visibility for User Groups

SFM is a multi-company accounting system. However, there may be situations where it is necessary to restrict certain users from accessing specific companies.

When SFM is launched and multiple companies are installed, users are presented with a list of available companies to choose from. This allows them to select the company they wish to work on.

To manage access, SFM includes a user rights mechanism. Access rights are assigned to User Groups, and each user inherits the permissions of the group they belong to. This functionality is available under Administration > Groups & Permissions.

How to Restrict Company Access for a User Group

To limit the companies accessible to users in a specific group, follow these steps:
  1. Navigate to: Administration > Groups & Permissions.
  2. The Groups & Permissions grid will display all existing User Groups.
  3. Select the User Group for which you want to restrict company access.
  4. Click on the Companies Viewable by [Group Name] tab.
  5. To restrict access:
    1. Click the + icon.
    2. A selection grid will appear at the bottom left.
    3. Choose a company from the list and click Post.
    4. Repeat this process for each company you want the group to access.

Notes
If No Companies are listed in this tab, users in the group will see All Companies.

Applying Restrictions to Other Groups

To restrict access for a different User Group:
  1. Return to the Groups tab.
  2. Select the desired group.
  3. Repeat the steps above to define which companies are viewable.
