Using the Basic and Advanced Search Functions in SIMS

SIMS Search Functionality

Accessing the Search function in any SIMS Grid

  1. Navigate to any Grid (we are going to use Support > Stock Cards as an example).
  2. To enable the search function, press any letter key on your keyboard.
  3. The search function will appear between the toolbar and the grid headers, as illustrated in the screenshot.

  1. To search in a particular column, click on the Header.
  2. Begin typing in the Search box using the keyboard. The grid will show you matching results in real-time as you type.

Notes
Please note that when using the Basic Search, you need to type the exact code of the item you are looking for, including any spaces.

  1. You can change from Basic Search to Advanced Search by clicking on the Search button. A button labelled PMA will appear to the right of the Search box.
  2. Switch back to Basic Search by pressing the Search button again.

After switching to Advanced Search, clicking on the PMA button will bring up three subcategories:
  1. Partial Match at Beginning: This option will start searching through the first word in every entry as soon as you start typing.
  2. Partial Match Anywhere: Here, results are shown if the word you enter in the Search is recognised anywhere in the text.
  3. Exact Match: Enter the exact word in the Search. Only exact matches will be shown in results.
