Problem

Error: "Record is out of range" on SIMS loading splash screen.



Environment

SIMS installed on a Windows Machine Locally

Solution

  1. Make sure SIMS is not running before going on step 2.
    If you are having difficulties closing SIMS, you can use one of these methods:
    - Using Task Manager: Start > type 'Task Manager' > Details Tab > Winsims.exe > Right Click Winsims.exe > End Task
    - or just Restart your Windows machine
  2. Start > Type Run > Enter
  3. Type %LocalAppData%
  4. Navigate to Virtual Store > Program Files (x86)
  5. Fully Delete the Shireburn folder

Cause

This error on the SIMS splash screen is related to the Shireburn folder found in Windows Virtual Store folder usually created by Windows after a Windows Update
